POD 2.0 – “A New Approach”

This spring, our coaches strive to take an innovative approach to the development of our athletes.  In seasons past, our traditional POD Program focused primarily on a progression based, overall skill build that included occasional position-specific or competition-based concepts.

This Spring, beginning April 13th, we introduce POD 2.0!  The core belief for all Academy Development programs is “Training to Contribute”.  POD 2.0 elevates our core belief to new heights!

POD 2.0 will provide a STRUCTURED APPROACH to the following three concepts:
•    Individual Skill Development
•    Positional Development
•    Game Development

POD 2.0 is an eight (8) week program, broken into two parts:

First 6 weeks – Individual and Positional Skill Development

  • First session each week is a progressive approach to enhancing a player’s entire skillset.
  • Second session each week is dedicated to the position only.   These sessions will be led by position-specific coaches and are narrowly focused on the forward and defense positions. Players will be on the ice with their specific position only!

Last 2 weeks – Game Development

  • All sessions are structured around game play.  The sessions will be divided into:
  • Situationally-focused competition to test the skill based and positional instruction from the first 6 weeks
  • Open and creative game play that allows players to use their skills and test in-game decision making

Our POD 2.0 Development Program is a progressive and holistic approach to building a complete player by strengthening the foundation of the individual skillset, enhancing growth in their specific position and building hockey IQ by testing within game-like situations.

POD 2.0 is only offered from Junior-aged players to 2011.  Goalie, Girls, Mite and Skating programs will operate differently, and will be outlined in their specific tabs below.

Our spring program provides the platform for our athletes to reach new heights through properly executed, repetition-based, training and competition, guided by our knowledgeable and experienced staff.
