IN-SEASON DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

The Academy of Hockey is excited to announce our 2019-2020 In Season Development Programs. As you will see, our offerings will shift to skating development. Because our programs are designed to supplement a player’s in-season team schedule as well as adding to an individual players development, we feel structured skating programs will benefit players greatly. Our core Academy Programing will consist of:

  • Player Development Program (Application)
    • Bantam and Midget-aged travel level players
  • Academy Skating Program (Registration)
    • Mite, Squirt, and Pee Wee-aged travel level players

All Academy programs will utilize the state of the facilities located inside HARBORCENTER – part of the only three-rink complex in the NHL – including two NHL-size rinks, classroom video analysis, and the IMPACT Sports Performance cutting edge training facility. Browse the curriculum below by selecting your birth year. All Academy programming is open to male and female players, with the exception of female only programming.

There are a limited number of spots available for each program many of which will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. When applying or registering for programs, it is with the understanding that all sessions can be attended.  No refunds will be given for missed sessions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Academy staff at anytime: academy@harborcenter.com.

Player Program  – 2003-2004
Midget Player Development Pod Program - $320

The Academy of Hockey’s In Season Development Program will consist of development sessions focusing on a 360-degree, holistic approach to advancing the development of each individual player. Academy of Hockey Development Staff   will lead a group of players through a series of SIXTEEN (16) development sessions with an on-ice emphasis on the Technical, Physical and Mental aspects of hockey. Included in the development program are:

  • On Ice Skill Development – the skill and situational specific program will consistently test participants. A few of the areas of concentration will be advanced edge control for balance and agility with and without the puck, controlled puck handling leading to more consistent puck possession, body position to ensure the player is at a position of strength either when on the attack or defending, as well as shooting tactics providing deception through puck angle and/or manipulation.  The Academy staff believes that these skills translate to the highest-level game.
  • Small Group Training - deliberate and constructive on ice instruction is essential to skill growth.  This program will have a 4:1 Player to Coach ratio or lower each session.

To participate in this program, please submit the application via the tab below. The Academy of Hockey staff will review all applications and advise all applicants of the result of their application. The program is open to all 2003 and 2004 birth year players. The cost for each participant is $320
